Canon Gweinidogaeth ac Addoli: Disgrifiad o'r rôl

Trosolwg o'r rôl

Mae'r Canon Gweinidogaeth ac Addoli yn gyfrifol am ddatblygu gweinidogaeth ac addoliad yn yr Eglwys Gadeiriol.

Pwrpas penodol y swydd yw gweithio'n agos gyda'r Deon i oruchwylio gweinidogaeth a bywyd beunyddiol yr Eglwys Gadeiriol, gan sicrhau ei fod yn cynnig addoliad a chroeso trawsnewidiol. Yn benodol, bydd y Canon Gweinidogaeth ac Addoli yn gweithio i alluogi'r Eglwys Gadeiriol i ddarparu addoliad a cherddoriaeth o safon, gan ddatblygu ystod, dyfnder a chwmpas yr hyn y mae'r Eglwys Gadeiriol yn ei gynnig mewn addoliad ar y Sul, gweddi ddyddiol ac mewn dathliadau esgobaethol a dinesig.

Yn ogystal â'r breintiau a ddaw gyda'r rôl, mae disgwyl y bydd y Canon Gweinidogaeth ac Addoli, fel gyda phob aelod o'r tîm, yn cymryd rhan ym mhob lefel o fywyd a gwaith yr Eglwys Gadeiriol, sy'n cynnwys gwasanaethu yn ogystal ag arwain. Mae'r Eglwys Gadeiriol yn rhan o Ardal Weinidogaeth, ac ar adegau bydd angen cefnogi'r weinidogaeth yn y ddwy eglwys ddinesig.

Bydd angen i'r person a benodir i gyflawni'r briff arwyddocaol hwn fod yn egnïol, dychmygus a gwydn; rhywun sydd yn hoff o addoliad a cherddoriaeth ac a fydd yn canfod cynhaliaeth ym mhatrwm gweddi'r Eglwys Gadeiriol; yn offeiriad sydd wedi bod mewn gweinidogaeth ordeiniedig amser llawn am o leiaf chwe blynedd, yn meddu ar sgiliau trefniadol enghreifftiol, ac wedi eu galw i arddel rôl arweinyddiaeth ddirprwyedig wrth ddatblygu bywyd yr Eglwys Gadeiriol; cyfathrebwr ardderchog; a rhywun sy'n ffynnu mewn amgylchedd cymhleth, anodd ac yn mwynhau gweithio mewn tîm amlddisgyblaeth.

Mae angen medru’r Gymraeg ar gyfer y rôl hon, a byddai bod yn rhugl yn ddymunol. Byddem yn cefnogi ymgeisydd a fyddai'n fodlon gwella eu gallu i gyfathrebu trwy gyfrwng y Gymraeg ac mae adnoddau esgobaethol i alluogi hyn.

Y Deon sy'n gyfrifol am y Gadeirlan yn y pen draw, ac mae'n Arweinydd yr Ardal Weinidogaeth, ond mae gan bob aelod o'r tîm gylch gorchwyl a lefel o ymreolaeth o fewn hyn. Disgwylir i holl aelodau'r tîm gydweithio a mynychu cyfarfodydd tîm rheolaidd, cyfarfodydd un i un gyda'r Deon ac i ymgymryd ag arfarniadau blynyddol. Canon for Ministry & Worship: A description of the role

Overview of the role

The Canon for Ministry & Worship has responsibility for developing the Cathedral's ministry and worship.

The specific purpose of the post is to work closely with the Dean to oversee the daily ministry and life of the Cathedral, ensuring that it is a place of transforming worship and welcome. In particular, the Canon for Ministry & Worship will work to enable the Cathedral to provide outstanding worship and music, developing the range, depth and scope of what the Cathedral offers in Sunday worship, daily prayer and at major diocesan and civic celebrations.

As well as the privileges that come with the role, there is an expectation that, as with all team members, the Canon for Ministry & Worship will participate in all levels of Cathedral life and work, which involves service as well as leadership. The Cathedral sits within a Ministry Area, and on occasion there may also be the need to support the ministry within the two city churches.

The person appointed to fulfil this significant brief will need to be energetic, imaginative and resilient; someone with a flair for worship and music and who will be sustained by the Cathedral's pattern of prayer; a priest who has been in full time ordained ministry for at least six years, has exemplary organizational skills, and is called to take a delegated leadership role in developing the life of the Cathedral; an excellent communicator; and someone who thrives in a complex, demanding environment and enjoys working in a multidisciplinary team.

Welsh is necessary for this role and fluency is desirable. We would support a candidate who would be willing to improve their ability to communicate through the medium of Welsh and there are diocesan resources to enable this.

The Dean holds ultimate responsibility for the Cathedral and is the Ministry Area Leader, but each member of the team has an area of responsibility and a level of autonomy within this. There is an expectation for all team members to work collaboratively and to attend and contribute to regular team meetings, one to one meetings with the Dean and to undertake annual appraisals. The Canon for Ministry & Worship is directly responsible to and supervised by the Dean.
