Llythyr oddi wrth yr Esgob

20 Chwefror 2021

Annwyl gyfeillion

Pob gras a thangnefedd i chi.

Duwioldeb ac addewidion

Nid gair ffasiynol yw duwioldeb.

Yn rhy aml, mae iddo atseiniadau o ffug barchusrwydd a chrefydd wag ar sioe. Ac eto cymeradwyodd Iesu dduwioldeb hyd yn oed wrth iddo rybuddio am ei beryglon.

Yn fy myfyrdod ar gyfer Sul Cyntaf y Grawys, rwy'n trafod sut i grefftio set o rinweddau sy'n ddilys ac yn ddiffuant.

Myfi, Iesu

Ein hadnodd esgobaethol ar gyfer Grawys 2021

Mae'n cwrs Grawys ar gyfer 2021, Myfi, Iesu, yn canolbwyntio, fesul wythnos, ar y dywediadau "Myfi yw" o Efengyl Ioan.

Fel mewn blynyddoedd blaenorol, gall grwpiau neu unigolion ddefnyddio’r deunydd. Mae ar gael fel adnodd ar-lein. Mae hefyd ar gael fel PDF maint A4 - gydag un PDF o'r holl ddeunydd ar gael i'w lawrlwytho isod, a ffeiliau PDF unigol ar gyfer pob wythnos y gellir eu lawrlwytho o'r tudalennau wythnosol.

Myfi, Iesu: Wrth y bwrdd

Yn ystod wythnosau'r Grawys, bydd ein hadnodd Wrth y bwrdd ar gyfer teuluoedd a'r Eglwys Iau rhyw chydig yn wahanol.

Bob dydd Sul, bydd Wrth y bwrdd ar ffurf sesiwn byw ar Zoom, yn archwilio themâu y cwrs Grawys esgobaethol, Myfi, Iesu. Bydd recordiad o'r sesiwn ar gael hefyd. I fod yn bresennol, mae angen cofrestru ar-lein.

Myfi, Iesu: #Myfi

I ategu'r cwrs y Grawys esgobaethol, gadewch imi wahodd y creadigol yn ein plith i ymgymryd â gweithred ddyddiol fyfyriol syml gydol yr wythnosau nesaf. Y cyfan sydd ei angen arnoch chi yw camera, boed hynny’n glamp o DSLR neu’r camera ar eich ffôn.

Mae un gair dyddiol, wedi’i seilio ar arddywediad “Myfi yw” yr wythnos, wedi ei ddethol ar gyfer pob diwrnod o ddydd Sul cyntaf y Grawys ymlaen. Wrth i chi fyfyrio ar y gair a ddewiswyd ar gyfer pob diwrnod, tynnwch lun o’r hyn y mae’n ei olygu i chi.

Byddem wrth ein bodd pe bai hyn yn rhywbeth y gallwn ei rannu gyda’n gilydd ledled yr esgobaeth. Uwchlwythwch eich delweddau a thagio @Esgobaeth Bangor - The Diocese of Bangor ar Facebook neu @esgobaethbangor ar Instagram a Twitter gyda #Myfi

Cymorth Cristnogol

Mae wedi bod mor galonogol clywed am gynifer o ffrindiau o bob cwr o'r esgobaeth sydd wedi derbyn dos cyntaf y brechlyn dros yr wythnosau diwethaf. Gall pob un ohonom fod yn ddiolchgar am y sgil, y gofal a'r cynnydd y mae'r ymdrech frechu yn ei arddangos.

Byddwn hefyd yn gwybod bod llai o gynnydd yn cael ei wneud yn rhai o'r cymunedau tlotaf a mwyaf bregus ledled y byd.

Rwy’n hapus iawn felly i fod yn rhoi fy nghefnogaeth i apêl brechu Cymorth Cristnogol.

Mae Cymorth Cristnogol eisoes ar lawr gwlad, yn helpu i gadw pobl yn ddiogel rhag coronafirws gyda chefnogaeth ymarferol - ond maent bob amser yn gallu gwneud mwy gyda mwy o adnoddau. Hoffwn eich hannog chi ac aelodau o'n cymunedau eglwysig ar draws yr esgobaeth i roi rhodd i Gymorth Cristnogol, i ddiolch am y brechlyn, ac i helpu'r rhai sy'n llai ffodus na ni ein hunain i dderbyn yr un gefnogaeth a gobaith.

Plant Anglican

Mae Rhwydwaith Plannu Eglwysi'r Cymundeb Anglicanaidd, neu Plant Anglican, yn fenter gan y Cymun Anglicanaidd.

Prif nod Plant Anglican yw bod yn adnodd sy'n annog planwyr eglwysi ar draws y Cymundeb i fod mor effeithiol â phosibl wrth blannu eglwysi yn eu cyd-destunau eu hunain. Mae'n newyddion da iawn i ni yng Nghymru bod Archddiacon Bangor yn un o aelodau Grŵp Llywio Plant Anglican. Gallwch ddod o hyd i ragor o wybodaeth, a ffyrdd o gadw mewn cysylltiad, ar wefan Plant Anglican.

Un o weithgareddau Plant Anglican yw cyhoeddi cylchlythyr i ysbrydoli ac arfogi. Mae’n galonogol iawn i gylchlythyr diweddaraf Plant Anglican gynnwys newydd o Esgobaeth Bangor ar ffurf adroddiad gan Eryl Parry am fentrau Adfent a Nadolig Bro Celynnin. Gallwch ddarllen y cylchlythyr yma.

A letter from the Bishop

20 February 2021

Dear colleagues and friends

All grace and peace to you.

Piety and promises

Piety is not a word in vogue.

To be called pious is usually regarded as a kind of insult. And yet Jesus commended piety even as he warned about its dangers.

In my meditation for the First Sunday of Lent, I reflect on how we craft a set of virtues which are authentic and not blighted by outward show.

I, Jesus

Our diocesan resource for Lent 2021

Our 2021 diocesan Lent course, I, Jesus, focuses, week by week, on each the ‘I am’ sayings from the Gospel of John.

The material, as in previous years, is for group or individual use. It is available as an online resource. It is also available as an A4-sized PDF - with a single PDF of all the material available for download below, and individual PDFs for each week downloadable from the weekly pages.

I, Jesus: At the table

During the weeks of Lent, our At the table resource for families and Junior Church is going to look a bit different.

Every Sunday, At the table will take the form of a live Zoom session, exploring the themes of I, Jesus. A recording of the session will also be available. To join in the live session, on-line sign-up is required.

I, Jesus: #Myfi

To complement the diocesan Lent course, let me invite the creative among us to take up a simple reflective daily act during the coming weeks of Lent. All you’ll need is a camera, be that a great chunky DSLR or the camera on your phone.

A single word here, drawn from the “I am” saying for the week, is allocated for each day from tomorrow onwards. As you reflect on the word set for each day, why not take a picture of what it means to you.

We would love for this to be something we can share together across the diocese. Upload your images and tag @Esgobaeth Bangor - The Diocese of Bangor on Facebook or @esgobaethbangor on Twitter or Instagram with #Myfi.

Christian Aid

It has been so encouraging to hear of so many friends across the diocese receiving the first dose of the vaccine over recent weeks. We can all be thankful for the skill, care and progress that the vaccination effort demonstrates.

We will also know that less progress is being made in some of the poorest and most vulnerable communities across the world.

I am therefore very happy to be lending my support to Christian Aid’s vaccination appeal

Christian Aid is already on the ground, helping keep people safe from coronavirus with practical support – but are always able to do more with greater support. Let me encourage you and members of our church communities across the diocese to make a donation to Christian Aid, in thanksgiving for the vaccine, and to help those less fortunate than ourselves to receive the same support and hope.

Plant Anglican

The Anglican Communion Church Planting Network, or Plant Anglican for short, is an initiative of the Anglican Communion.

The primary aim of Plant Anglican is to be a resource that encourages church planters across the Communion to be as effective as possible at planting churches in their own contexts. It’s very good news for us in Wales that the Archdeacon of Bangor is one of the members of Plant Anglican Steering Group. You can find more information, and ways to keep in touch, on the Plant Anglican website.

One of Plant Anglican’s activities is the publication of a newsletter to to inspire and equip. It is very encouraging that Plant Anglican’s recent newsletter included as its main news from the Diocese of Bangor in the form of a report from Eryl Parry about Bro Celynnin’s Advent and Christmas initiatives. You can read the newsletter here.
