Cymraeg

Listening skills day designed for those working in Pastoral Teams within Ministry areas. A chance to stop and consider your practise and improve it. And a time to reflect on the difference between pastoral visiting and being a friendly visitor.

The day is led by Penny Crook. When asked to describe skills she has to offer, Penny usually writes “I am a good listener” and moves on to the next question. In her 35 years as a school social, as well as 20 years as a volunteer with the London branch of The Samaritans, she has honed her listening skills and has also helped people of all ages and backgrounds develop their listening skills. Penny Crook grew up in Minnesota, USA and has a Master’s in Social Service Administration from the University of Chicago. She has lived in Britain since 1971, living near London while working as a school social worker on US military bases. She moved to Beddgelert when she retired in 2002 and has been a Reader with the Church in Wales since 2005.
