Hwyl Fawr i blant Blwyddyn 6

Ar y 19eg o Fehefin 2018 cawsom ni'r fraint o ddathlu gyda’r plant yn ein hysgolion eglwysig wrth iddynt baratoi at symud o ysgol gynradd at ysgol uwchradd.

Arweiniodd yr Esgob Andy John dros 400 o blant yn y dathliadau gyda chriw o wirfoddolwyr o’r Esgobaeth. Llanwyd Cadeirlan Bangor â hwyl a sbri wrth i ni ganu, gweddïo, gwrando a chwarae gyda’n gilydd.

Dameg y Ddau Dŷ oedd ein thema gan ofyn ‘Ar beth wyt ti’n adeiladu?’. Bu Esgob Andy wrth ei fodd wrth sialensio plant i gêm o ‘Ker-plunk’ gan dynnu ffon heb adael i’r peli syrthio. Yn anffodus ni lwyddodd Esgob Andy i ennill gêm.

Beth oedd gan Ker-plunk i wneud â’n thema? ‘Roedd pob ffon yn dda ond nad oedd bob un yn hollol bwysig. Tynnwyd rhai allan a ddigwyddodd dim byd, tynnwyd eraill ac fe syrthiodd y peli trwy’r bylchau. Pa bethau sy’n bwysig yn eich bywyd chi? Pa bethau, os ydyn nhw’n cael ei dynnu i ffwrdd, sydd ddim yn gwneud unrhyw wahaniaeth o gwbl? Pa bethau, os ydyn nhw’n cael ei dynnu i ffwrdd, sydd yn gwneud i bopeth syrthio yn ddarnau? Lliw ein gwallt? Ein taldra? Ein gwerthoedd? Ein credoau?

Yn y ddameg, heriodd Iesu'r y bobl i fod fel yr adeiladwr a adeiladodd ar y graig. Iesu ydi’r graig. Ei wirionedd ef yw’r graig.

Soniodd Esgob Andy am adeiladu ein bywydau ar Dduw, ar weddi ac ar y Beibl.

Rhoddwyd y cyfle i’r plant gweddïo trwy greu tai origami gan weddïo y bydd Dduw yn helpu nhw i adeiladu eu bywydau, gosod eu sylfeini, ynddo Ef ac yn y pethau sy’ wir yn bwysig.

Gorffennodd y dathliad trwy rhoi bwyd i’r plant a chyflwyno Beibl yr un iddyn nhw.

Farewell to Year 6 pupils

On the 19th of June, 2018 we had the pleasure of celebrating with the children in our Church Schools who are finishing their primary school journeys and moving off to secondary school.

Over 400 children attended the celebrations which were led by Bishop Andy John and a team of clergy and laity from across the Diocese. Bangor Cathedral was full of fun and games as we sang, prayed, listened and played together.

Our time together was focussed around Jesus’ parable of the Wise and Foolish Builders, asking the question ‘On what are you building?’. Bishop Andy took great delight in challenging 3 of the children to a game of ‘Ker-plunk’ each taking turns to pull out a stick without letting any of the balls drop. Much to everyone’s delight, Bishop Andy didn’t win either game!

What did Ker’plunk have to do with our theme? All of the sticks were good to have but not all were important. Some were removed without any balls falling through. Others, when removed, meant gaps were left through which balls fell. The question was asked of the children – which things in your life are important? Which things, if removed, make no real impact? Which things, if removed, mean that things start to fall apart? The colour of our hair? Our height? Our values? Our beliefs?

In the parable of the wise and foolish builders Jesus challenges people to build their lives on the rock – on him and his truth.

Bishop Andy spoke of his life being built on God, prayer and the Bible.

Each of the children prayed by making an origami house, asking God to help them remember to build their lives, have their foundations, in Him and those things which are truly important.

The celebration ended with each child being given a goody bag and a Bible to mark their time at primary school ending.

Children from Ysgol Pont y Gof sent the following brief reflections:
