Dduw sanctaidd a chariadus, sy’n trigo yn y galon ddynol, gan ein gwneud ni’n gyfranogion o’r natur ddwyfol yng Nghrist ein Harchoffeiriad mawr: helpa ni sy'n cofio dy was Jeremy, i ymddiried yn dy addewidion nefol a dilyn buchedd sanctaidd sydd yn llawn rhinwedd a gwir dduwioldeb; trwy’r un Iesu Grist dy Fab ein Harglwydd, sydd yn fyw ac yn teyrnasu gyda thi.

Annwyl gyfeillion
Mae'r Eisteddfod wedi bod yn cael ei chynnal yr wythnos hon o fewn esgobaeth Bangor ac Archddiacon Meirionydd. Mae wedi bod mor galonogol gweld eglwysi o'r Ardaloedd Gweinidogaeth lleol yn helpu gydag addoli a chynorthwyo ym mhabell Cytûn. Rwy'n ddiolchgar iawn i bawb sydd wedi helpu. Rydym hefyd wedi gweld yr esgobaeth yn bresennol drwy brosiect Llan ac yn enwedig pwyslais pererindod – Pererin.
Mae ymgysylltu â diwylliant yn hanfodol i'r eglwys. Yn y Testament Newydd gwelwn sut y bu i ddiwylliant siapio neges newyddion da a chaniatáu i'r apostolion siarad yn glir, ond mewn ffordd a oedd yn hygyrch i'r gwrandawyr (Actau 17:16f). Yn hanes yr eglwys bu adegau pan gysylltwyd y ffydd Gristnogol yn rhy agos â diwylliant ei hoes ac yn analluog i gynnig rhywbeth heriol a nodedig. Ar adegau eraill, rydym wedi gwahanu cymaint oddi wrth ein cyd-destun nes ein bod wedi ymddangos bron yn sect heb unrhyw ddealltwriaeth na pherthynas â'r byd o'n cwmpas.
Yr hyn sydd ei angen yw eglwys ymgysylltiedig sy'n eistedd o fewn ac yn ymwneud â'i diwylliant ond nad yw'n cael ei hadnabod â hi. Efallai mai dyma oedd Iesu'n ei ganmol pan wnaeth ein gwahodd ni i fod yn halen a golau (Mathew 5:13-14).

Mae Wythnos Carchardai am weld diwedd ar y dioddefaint dynol a achosir gan drosedd a charchar – i bawb yr effeithir arnynt. Bob mis Hydref maent yn casglu ynghyd eglwysi a sefydliadau o bob rhan o’r gymuned Gristnogol i gyhoeddi galwad i weddi am newid lle mae angen newid trwy ymgyrch wythnos o hyd gydag adnoddau print a digidol, sianeli cymdeithasol, digwyddiadau ac ymddangosiadau ar y cyfryngau.
Mae Wythnos Carchardai yn cael ei threfnu a’i chynnal gan 25 o sefydliadau sy’n dod ynghyd ddwywaith y flwyddyn fel Bwrdd Cyfeirio, a’r Gweithgorau llai sy’n cyfarfod yn fisol i gyflawni’r ymgyrchoedd galw-i-weddïo blynyddol.

Holy and loving God, you dwell in the human heart, making us partakers of the divine nature in Christ our great High Priest: help us who remember your servant Jeremy, to put our trust in your heavenly promises and follow a holy life in virtue and true godliness; through the same Jesus Christ your Son our Lord, who is alive and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever.
A message from the Bishop of Bangor and Archbishop of Wales
Dear friends
The Eisteddfod has been taking place this week within the diocese of Bangor and Archdeaconry of Meirionydd. It has been so encouraging to see churches from the local Ministry Areas helping with worship and assisting in the Cytûn tent. I am so grateful to everyone who has helped. We have also seen the diocese present through the Llan project and especially the pilgrimage emphasis (‘Pererin’).
Engaging with culture is essential for the church. In the New Testament we see how culture shaped the message of good news and allowed the apostles to speak clearly but in a way that was accessible to the hearers (Acts 17:16f). In the history of the church there have been times when the Christian faith has been too closely associated with the culture of its age and incapable of offering something challenging and distinctive. At other times, we have so separated from our context that we have appeared to be almost a sect with no understanding of nor relationship to the world around us.
What is needed is an engaged church that sits within and relates to its culture but is not identified with it. Perhaps this is what Jesus commended when he invited us to be salt and light (Matt. 5:13-14).

Prisons Week
8-14 October 2023
Prisons Week wants to see an end to the human suffering caused by crime and imprisonment – for all those affected. Each October they gather together churches and organisations from across the Christian community to issue a call to prayer for change where change is needed through a week-long campaign with print and digital resources, social channels, events and media appearances.
Prisons Week is organised and run by 25 organisations that come together twice each year as a Board of Reference, and the smaller Working Groups who meet monthly to deliver the annual call-to-prayer campaigns.
