Y Deuddegfed Sul wedi'r Drindod
Gweddi gasgl
Ioan y Bedyddiwr (29 Awst)
Hollalluog Dduw, a anfonaist dy was loan Fedyddiwr yn dy ragluniaeth i baratoi ffordd dy Fab ein Gwaredwr trwy bregethu edifeirwch: gwna inni ganlyn ei athrawiaeth a’i fuchedd sanctaidd, fel y bo inni wir edifarhau, yn ôl ei bregethiad, a dilyn ei esiampl trwy ddweud y gwir yn gyson, ceryddu drygioni’n eofn, a dioddef yn amyneddgar er mwyn y gwirionedd; trwy Iesu Grist ein Harglwydd.

Neges gan Esgob Bangor ac Archesgob Cymru
Annwyl gyfeillion
Rwy'n amau bod llawer ohonom wedi dilyn treial a dedfrydu Nyrs Lucy Letby yr wythnos diwethaf. Dim ond y bedwaredd fenyw i dderbyn dedfryd oes lawn, ni fydd hi byth yn gadael carchar tan y diwrnod y bydd yn marw. Mae ei throseddau bron y tu hwnt i ddealltwriaeth ac yn cyflwyno her arbennig i Gristnogion. Mae’r angen am sancsiynau priodol sy’n adlewyrchu difrifoldeb y drosedd yn real ac eto credwn yn y posibilrwydd o faddeuant a newid gwirioneddol o fewn yr enaid dynol. Ydy'r rhain mewn tensiwn?
Un o brif ddyletswyddau unrhyw system gyfreithiol yw sicrhau bod cyfiawnder. Ni all anghywirdebau fynd heb eu hateb os oes gan werthoedd unrhyw werth o gwbl. Mae angen i lywodraethau sicrhau bod dinasyddion yn cael eu hamddiffyn fel bod bywyd dynol yn ffynnu yn rhydd rhag ymyrraeth fympwyol a threisgar gan eraill.
Ac eto mae cyfiawnder yn annigonol. Oherwydd bod Duw wedi caru’r byd gymaint (gyda’i holl ddrygioni ac erchyllterau) y daeth Crist – i faddau ein pechodau ond hefyd i agor ffordd yn ôl o’r affwys. Gall hyn ymddangos yn warthus oherwydd ei fod yn cynnwys pob bod dynol, gan gynnwys Lucy Letby. Wrth i ni gydnabod difrifoldeb y troseddau a gyflawnwyd a'r ddedfryd a basiwyd, gallem hefyd adlewyrchu nad cyfiawnder a ddaeth â ni yn ôl o'r tywyllwch ond gras a chariad.

Ymosodiadau Pacistan
Ar 16 Awst 2023 adroddwyd bod pedair neu bum eglwys wedi cael eu rhoi ar dân gan dorf Fwslimaidd yn Jaranwala, Punjab, ar ôl cyhuddo dau ddyn Cristnogol o halogi’r Quran. Nid oedd y ffigurau hyn yn gywir ac maent yn tanddatgan maint y trais a'r difrod a achoswyd i gymuned Gristnogol Pacistan. Yn ôl y newyddion presennol gallai nifer yr eglwysi a losgwyd fod mor uchel â 21. Ar ben hynny, cafodd sawl cartref a busnes yn perthyn i Gristnogion hefyd eu ysbeilio a'u fandaleiddio gan y terfysgwyr Mwslemaidd. Roedd yr ymosodiad yn un o’r digwyddiadau gwaethaf o erledigaeth grefyddol yn hanes Pacistan ac mae wedi gadael cannoedd o Gristnogion yn ddigartref ac mewn trawma.
Daliwch y rhai sydd wedi colli aelodau o'r teulu, cartrefi ac eiddo yn yr ymosodiadau hyn yn eich gweddïau.

Mae dyddiadau newydd ar gyfer hyfforddiant diogelu ar gael ar wefan yr Eglwys yng Nghymru.

The Twelfth Sunday after Trinity
Collect
John the Baptist (29 August)
Almighty God, by whose providence thy servant John the Baptist was sent to prepare the way of thy Son our Saviour, by preaching of repentance: make us so to follow his doctrine and holy life, that we may truly repent according to his preaching; and after his example constantly speak the truth, boldly rebuke vice, and patiently suffer for the truth’s sake; through Jesus Christ our Lord.

A message from the Bishop of Bangor and Archbishop of Wales
Dear friends
I suspect many of us have followed the trial and sentencing of Nurse Lucy Letby this last week. Only the fourth woman to receive a full life sentence, she will never leave prison until the day she dies. Her crimes are almost beyond comprehension and present a particular challenge for Christians. The need for appropriate sanctions which reflect the seriousness of the crime is real and yet we believe in the possibility of forgiveness and of real change within the human soul. Are these in tension?
One of the primary duties of any legal system is to ensure there is justice. Wrongs cannot go unanswered if values have any worth at all. Governments need to ensure the protection of citizens so that human life flourishes free from the arbitrary and violent interference of others.
And yet justice is insufficient. It was because God loved the world so much (with all its ills and horrors) that Christ came - to forgive our sins but also to open a way back from the abyss. This can appear scandalous because it includes every human being, including Lucy Letby. As we acknowledge the seriousness of the offences committed and the sentence passed, we might also reflect that it was not justice which brought us back from darkness but grace and love.

Pakistan attacks
On 16 August 2023 it was reported that four or five churches had been set on fire by a Muslim mob in Jaranwala, Punjab, after accusing two Christian men of desecrating the Quran. These figures weren't accurate and understate the extent of the violence and damage inflicted on the Christian community of Pakistan. According to present news the number of churches that were burnt could be as high as 21. Moreover, several homes and businesses belonging to Christians were also looted and vandalized by the Muslim rioters. The attack was one of the worst incidents of religious persecution in Pakistan’s history and has left hundreds of Christians homeless and traumatized.
Please hold those who have lost family members, homes and belongings in the these attacks in your prayers.

New dates for Safeguarding training
A healthy Christian community is one which ensures and nurtures the wellbeing of all. Safeguarding needs to be embedded in all aspects of the life and ministry of the Church, and safeguarding training and development at the Church in Wales is delivered in this context.
The new dates available for attending Safeguarding training are on the Church in Wales' website.
Treasures of Bro Padrig
On Saturday 26 August and Monday 28 August there is an exhibition of some of Bro Padrig's treasures in Cemaes Church. It's a lovely chance for a close-up look at some historic objects from the churches of Ministry Area.
A warm welcome is extended to all and entry is free.

Exploring Wholeness and Healing
Saturday 9 September
10.00am - 4.30pm at Saint Asaph Cathedral
Free tickets are now available to book via Eventbrite for this event organised by the Diocese of Saint Asaph's Spirituality Group. It is an opportunity to find out more about the healing ministry, to benefit from it on the day, and to be encouraged to practise it. Healing ministry has a much wider concern than an individual recovery from physical illness - it includes mental health, spiritual health, and the healing of communities.
