Lleisiau ifanc i groesawu Esgob Bangor yn y gwasanaeth sefydlu
Bydd pobl ifanc o bob rhan o Esgobaeth Bangor yn helpu i groesawu’r Esgob Manon Ceridwen James pan gaiff ei sefydlu’n Esgob Bangor yng Nghadeirlan Bangor ddydd Sadwrn 19 Medi.
Yn eu plith bydd Bethan Evans, 15 oed, o Lanidloes, a fydd yn cyfarch yr esgob newydd wrth ddrws gorllewinol y gadeirlan.
Mae Bethan yn aelod o Glwb Ieuenctid Spoons yn Eglwys Sant Idloes, Llanidloes. Mae’r grŵp yn cael ei arwain gan y Gweinidog Ieuenctid Arloesi, Debbie Peck, ac yn gwasanaethu pobl ifanc yn Ardal Weinidogaeth Bro Arwystli, ym mhen deheuol yr esgobaeth.
Ar ddechrau’r gwasanaeth, bydd yr Esgob Manon yn taro ar y drws gorllewinol dair gwaith â’i bagl. Pan fydd y drysau’n agor, bydd Bethan yn ei chroesawu ar ran pobl ifanc yr esgobaeth.
Fel rhan o litwrgi’r sefydlu, bydd yn gofyn i’r Esgob Manon pam ei bod wedi dod i’r gadeirlan a sut y daw ymhlith y bobl y mae wedi cael ei galw i’w gwasanaethu.
Dywedodd Debbie Peck fod Bethan yn ddewis amlwg ar gyfer y rôl. “Mae Bethan yn ferch ifanc hyderus a charedig a fydd yn cynrychioli pobl ifanc Llanidloes, ym mhen deheuol iawn yr esgobaeth, yn wych. Mae hi’n rhugl yn y Gymraeg a’r Saesneg ac yn berson dawnus, parod ei chymwynas a deallus.”
Mae Bethan hefyd yn chwarae pêl-droed i dîm dan 16 oed Y Seintiau Newydd a bydd yn colli gêm er mwyn cymryd rhan yn y gwasanaeth.
Wrth siarad cyn y sefydlu, dywedodd Bethan, “Rwy’n teimlo’n hynod gyffrous ac wedi fy mendithio o gael y cyfle hwn. Rwy’n ddiolchgar bod y rôl hon wedi cael ei chynnig i mi. Bydd cynrychioli pobl ifanc Cymru yn anrhydedd ac yn fraint.”
Bydd disgyblion Blynyddoedd 2 i 6 Ysgol Llandwrog hefyd yn cymryd rhan. Byddant yn canu Molwn Ef am Gymru (Let Us Praise Him for Wales), sy’n dathlu iaith, diwylliant, hanes a thirwedd Cymru.
Mae Ysgol Llandwrog yn ysgol fach wirfoddol a reolir gan yr Eglwys yng Nghymru, gyda 45 o ddisgyblion. Aeth ei phrifathrawes, Carys Thomas, i’r ysgol gyda’r Esgob Manon a bydd yno i weld ei disgyblion yn canu yn y gwasanaeth sefydlu.
Mae 45 o ddisgyblion yn yr ysgol wirfoddol a reolir gan yr Eglwys yng Nghymru. Mae cerddoriaeth yn rhan bwysig o fywyd yr ysgol, gyda chyfleoedd i ddysgu offerynnau chwythbrennau, pres, piano ac iwcalili, yn ogystal â chanu’n rheolaidd.
Mae gan yr ysgol gysylltiadau agos â’r eglwys leol a’r Parchedig Nia C Williams. Mae’r disgyblion hefyd yn cael ymweliadau rheolaidd gan dîm Agor y Llyfr o Ardal Weinidogaeth Bro Beuno Uwch Gwyrfai.
Bydd Leusa Grug Roberts, sy’n gyn-ddisgybl yn Ysgol Llandwrog, hefyd yn darllen y weddi dros sefydliadau ac ysgolion yn ystod y gwasanaeth. Mae Leusa bellach ym Mlwyddyn 11 yn Ysgol Syr Hugh Owen yng Nghaernarfon.

Rwy'n trysori'r blynyddoedd fel disgybl yn fy ysgol gynradd, a roddodd sylfaen mor dda i mi yn y gwerthoedd Cristnogol rwy'n eu coleddu ac yn eu harfer heddiw."
Young voices to welcome Bishop of Bangor at installation service
Young people from across the Diocese of Bangor will help welcome Bishop Manon Ceridwen James when she is installed at Bangor Cathedral on Saturday 19 September.
Among them will be 15-year-old Bethan Evans from Llanidloes, who will greet the new bishop at the cathedral’s west door.
Bethan is a member of Spoons Youth Club at St Idloes Church in Llanidloes. The group is run by Pioneer Youth Minister Debbie Peck and serves young people in Bro Arwystli Ministry Area, at the southern end of the diocese.
At the beginning of the service, Bishop Manon will strike the west door three times with her crozier. When the doors open, Bethan will welcome her on behalf of the diocese’s young people.
As part of the installation liturgy, she will ask Bishop Manon why she has come to the cathedral and how she comes among the people she has been called to serve.
Debbie Peck said Bethan was an obvious choice for the role. “Bethan is a confident and kind young woman who will represent the young people from Llanidloes, at the very southern tip of the diocese, brilliantly. She is fluent in both Welsh and English and is a talented, helpful and intelligent young person.”
Bethan also plays football for The New Saints Under-16s and will miss a match to take part in the service.
Speaking ahead of the installation, Bethan said, “I'm feeling extremely excited and blessed to have had this opportunity. I feel thankful that this role has been offeredto me. To represent the young people of Wales will be an honour and a privilege.”
Pupils from Years 2 to 6 at Ysgol Llandwrog will also take part. They will sing Molwn Ef am Gymru (“Let Us Praise Him for Wales”), which celebrates the language, culture, history and landscape of Wales.
Ysgol Llandwrog is a small Church in Wales voluntary controlled school with 45 pupils. Its headteacher, Carys Thomas, went to school with Bishop Manon and will be there to see her pupils sing at the installation.
Providing musical opportunities—such as woodwind, brass, and piano lessons, as well as ukulele classes and regular singing—is a priority for the school. It has a strong Christian ethos and maintains regular links with the local church and the Revd Nia C Williams; furthermore, the pupils delight in the lively visits from the 'Open the Book' team from the Beuno Uwch Gwyrfai Ministry Area.
Leusa Grug Roberts will also read the prayer for our institutions and schools during the service. Leusa is a Year 11 pupil at Ysgol Syr Hugh Owen, Caernarfon, and a former pupil of Ysgol Llandwrog.
Leusa volunteers with the Urdd and the William Mathias Music Service where she is a member of the Youth Forum. She plays the piano, harp and tenor horn and is a member of the Ysgol Syr Hugh Owen school choir, the County harp choir, the County and school band and is a member of CôrCofis and Cor y Doc. She’s also a keen hockey player.
Leusa said, “My love of music began within Ysgol Llandwrog and I feel very proud to have been asked to read a prayer within this service. I treasure the years as a pupil in my primary school which gave me such a good grounding in the Christian values that I hold on to and practice today.”
