- 6pm
- Sunday May 20
- St. Cybi’s Church, Holyhead (Bro Cybi)
The Venerable Andy Herrick, the Archdeacon of Anglesey, will be licensed and inducted as the new Vicar and Ministry Area Leader of Bro Cybi at a special service to celebrate the start of his new ministry there. Bro Cybi serves the communities of Holy Island - Holyhead, Rhoscolyn and Trearddur Bay.
The Bishop of Bangor - the Right Reverend Andy John - will be leading the service. Archdeacon Andy will combine his new ministry in Bro Cybi with being Archdeacon of Anglesey, the most senior clergyperson on Anglesey.
Archdeacon Andy was born and raised in Lincolnshire, but came to Lampeter to study Theology, where he also began to learn Welsh. He was ordained in 1982, and became a curate in Aberystwyth. He has spent all of his ministry in St. David’s Diocese up to now, most recently being the Vicar of Lampeter.
Andy is married to Sara, and they have three children and three grandchildren. His interests range from music to long-distance walking, rugby and wood turning.
Looking forward to beginning his ministry in Bro Cybi, Archdeacon Andy said, ‘Having spent all my ministry in the Diocese of St Davids, it came as a surprise when God opened the door to this opportunity to serve in Bro Cybi and Anglesey. Whilst I may feel daunted, I’m also excited about working with the lay people and clergy in Bro Cybi and Anglesey. I hope that together we will see growth and life as we look to worship, serve and tell the Good News in lively and creative ways. Sara and I are looking forward to making our home in Bro Cybi and beginning a new chapter in our life and ministry.’
Looking forward to the service, the Bishop of Bangor, the Right Reverend Andy John, said, ‘Archdeacon Andy brings much experience to his new roles on Anglesey. His ministry has been marked by a passion for evangelism and mission, as well as energising and creative worship. I’m looking forward to seeing Bro Cybi develop and flourish under his leadership there.
Please do pray for Archdeacon Andy and Sara, the people of Bro Cybi, as well as the people of Lampeter.’
