Ganed Esgob Andy ger Aberystwyth ac astudiodd y gyfraith yng Nghaerdydd cyn hyfforddi ar gyfer yr offeiriadaeth yng Ngholeg Sant Ioan, Nottingham. Gwasanaethodd yn Aberteifi ac Aberystwyth fel Curad Cynorthwyol, ac yn dilyn hynny am saith mlynedd yn Eglwys y Drindod Sanctaidd ym Mywoliaeth Reithorol Aberystwyth. Symudodd i Aberaeron ym 1999 a chafodd ei benodi yn Archddiacon Ceredigion a Ficer Pencarreg (Cwmann) yn 2006. Fe’i hetholwyd yn Esgob Bangor a’i gysegru’n unfed olynydd ar bedwar ungain i Deiniol yn 2008.

Mae meysydd diddordebau ymchwil yr Esgob yn cynnwys astudiaethau beiblaidd a’r berthynas rhwng y celfyddydau gweledol ac ysbrydolrwydd, ac mae’n cyfrannu’n gyson i gyfres BRF, New Daylight. Mae’n mwynhau chwaraeon, celfyddyd a cherddoriaeth, sy’n amrywio o Arvo Pärt i Led Zeppelin.

Andy John

Bishop Andy was born near Aberystwyth and read law at Cardiff prior to training for the priesthood at St John’s College, Nottingham. He served in Cardigan and Aberystwyth as Assistant Curate followed by seven years at Holy Trinity in the Rectorial Benefice of Aberystwyth. He moved to Aberaeron in 1999 and was appointed Archdeacon of Cardigan and Vicar of Pencarreg (Cwmann) in 2006. He was elected Bishop of Bangor and consecrated as the eighty-first successor of Deiniol in 2008.

The Bishop’s research interests include biblical studies and the interplay between the visual arts and spirituality, and he is a regular contributor to BRF’s New Daylight series. He enjoys sport, art and music which varies from Arvo Pärt to Led Zeppelin.
