Mae Eglwys Sant Cynon yn dathlu 90 mlynedd o wasanaethu Friog a'r Fairbourne
Cynhelir gwasanaeth arbennig ddydd Sul (8.7.18) am 11yb, pan fydd Eglwys Cynon Sant yn y Friog a Fairbourne yn dathlu 90 mlynedd ers agor.
Bydd y Gwir Barchedig Andrew John - Esgob Bangor - yn bresennol ynghyd â'r Aelod Seneddol dros Ddwyfor Meirionnydd, Liz Savile Roberts yn ogystal ag Arglwydd Raglaw Gwynedd, Ed Bailey.
Hefyd yn y gwasanaeth bydd dynes leol, Mrs Joyce Currie, sydd dros ei deg a phedwar ugain oed, a all gofio'r eglwys yn cael ei hadeiladu ac roedd yn y gwasanaeth agoriadol.
Dywedodd y Parchedig Lindsay Ford, sy'n ficer ar y cyd yn Ardal Gweinidogaeth Bro Cymer,
"Rydym yn edrych ymlaen yn fawr at ddathlu 90 mlynedd ers agor Eglwys Sant Cynon, sy'n adeilad hyfryd yn gwasanaethu cymuned arbennig iawn yn y Friog a Fairbourne. Bydd yn achlysur arbennig."
Wrth edrych ymlaen at ei ymweliad ag Eglwys Cynon Sant, dywedodd y Gwir Barchedig Andrew John - Esgob Bangor,
"Mae bob amser yn beth da i gofio penblwydd fel hyn, gan ei fod yn rhoi cyfle i ni ddweud diolch i Dduw am y dystiolaeth a chenhadaeth Gristnogol sydd wedi mynd allan o’r adeilad arbennig hon. Mae hefyd yn rhoi'r cyfle i ni edrych ymlaen ac i ofyn i ni ein hunain sut y gallwn anrhydeddu gweledigaeth y bobl a adeiladodd Eglwys Cynon Sant a pharhau i gyhoeddi Iesu, yr Efengyl a chariad Duw i gymuned Friog a Fairbourne yn y dyfodol."
St. Cynon’s Church celebrates 90 years of serving Friog and Fairbourne
A special service will be held on Sunday (8.7.18) at 11am, when St. Cynon’s Church in Friog and Fairbourne will be celebrating the 90th anniversary of its opening.
The Right Reverend Andrew John - Bishop of Bangor - will be present along with the Member of Parliament for Dwyfor Meirionnydd, Liz Savile Roberts as well as the Lord Lieutenant of Gwynedd, Ed Bailey.
Also at the service will be a local nonagenarian, Mrs Joyce Currie, who can remember the church being built and was at its opening ceremony.
The Rev Lindsay Ford who is an associate vicar in the Bro Cymer Ministry Area, said
“We are really looking forward to celebrating the 90th anniversary of St. Cynon’s Church, which is a lovely building serving a very special community in Friog and Fairbourne. It should be a great occasion.”
Looking forward to his visit to St. Cynon’s, the Right Reverend Andrew John - Bishop of Bangor - said,
“It is always a good thing to remember anniversaries like this, because it gives us an opportunity to say thank you to God for the Christian witness and mission which has gone out from a particular building. It also gives us the opportunity to look ahead and to ask ourselves how we can honour the vision of the people who built St Cynon’s Church and continue to proclaim Jesus, the Gospel and God’s love to the community of Friog and Fairbourne in the future."
