Ymunwch â Chadeirlan Bangor unwaith eto ar fore Sul!

Bydd pobl ym mhob ran o Gymru, y Deyrnas Unedig a'r byd yn gallu ymuno ag addoli o Gadeirlan Bangor ddydd Sul (22.7.2018).

Am yr ail dro mewn blwyddyn, darlledir rhaglen BBC Radio 4 Sunday Worship yn fyw o Gadeirlan Bangor am 8:10yb.

Meddai Dean Bangor, y Tra Pharchedig, Kathy Jones, a fydd yn arwain y gwasanaeth, 'Roeddwn i wrth fy modd pan ofynnodd y BBC i ddychwelyd a darlledu Sunday Worship yn fyw o'r Gadeirlan eto. Mae'n braf pan gaiff doniau pobl yyn y Gadeirlan eu cydnabod fel hyn, er ei fod yn golygu llawer o waith paratoi! Mae'n rhoi cyfle i ni yma cyrraedd yn bellach na’n cymuned arferol ac arwain pobl addoli yn eu cartrefi.'

Fel rhan o wasanaeth Sunday Worship, bydd côr y Gadeirlan yn canu'r anthem 'The Doctrine of Wisdom', gan William Mathias, yn ogystal â arwain caneuon emynau, gan gynnwys Calon Lân, Come Down, O Love Divine a We Have A Gospel To Proclaim. Bydd Organydd y Gadeirlan, Martin Brown, yn chwarae'r organ.

Meddai Paul Booth, Cyfarwyddwr Cerdd y Gadeirlan, 'Mae'n braf bod y flwyddyn academaidd y Côr wedi dechrau fis Medi diwethaf gyda pharatoi ar gyfer y rhaglen Sunday Worship blaenorol, ac rŵan rydym yn cael ein hunain yn paratoi ar gyfer Sunday Worship unwaith yn rhagor, ychydig cyn i'r Côr ddechrau ei seibiant haf. Mae'n braf bod y BBC yn cydnabod y safonau uchel yr ydym yn anelu atynt gyda'n cerddoriaeth yma yng Nghadeirlan Bangor. Mae'r Côr yn edrych ymlaen yn fawr at ddydd Sul. '

Bydd y gwasanaeth yn dathlu Santes Fair Magdalene, gan fod y dydd Sul hwn, Gorffennaf 22, yn ddiwrnod gwyl blynyddol iddi. Mae Mary Magdalene yn ffigwr hanesyddol cydnabyddedig a welodd ddigwyddiadau yn weinidogaeth Iesu, ei groeshoelio a'i atgyfodiad.

Dywedodd Esgob Bangor - y Gwir Barchedig Andy John - fydd yn pregethu yn y gwasanaeth, 'Bydd yn fraint unwaith eto i rannu addoliad ein Cadeirlan â phobl mewn sawl man gwahanol. Mae'n wych cael yr ail gyfle hwn i arwain pobl yn eu haddoliad, eu gweddi a'u adfyfyrio. Rwy'n gweddïo y bydd pobl yn teimlo'n agosach at Dduw, diolch i ddoniau ac ymroddiad Dean Kathy, ein cerddorion a'r nifer o bobl yn ein tîm yng Nghadeirlan Bangor - yn ogystal â'r BBC, wrth gwrs!

Tune in to Bangor Cathedral once again on Sunday morning!

People from all over Wales, the UK and the world will be able to tune in and join with worship from Bangor Cathedral on Sunday (22.7.2018).

For the second time in a year, BBC Radio 4’s Sunday Worship programme will be broadcast live from Bangor Cathedral at 8:10am.

The Dean of Bangor, the Very Rev’d Kathy Jones, who will be leading the service, said, ‘I was delighted when the BBC asked to come back and broadcast Sunday Worship live from the Cathedral again. It is nice when the gifts of people at the Cathedral are recognised in this way, even though it means much work in preparation! It gives us all here an ideal opportunity to reach out beyond our normal community and lead people in worship in their homes.’

As part of the Sunday Worship service, the Cathedral’s choir will be singing the anthem ‘The Doctrine of Wisdom’, by William Mathias, as well as leading the singing of hymns, including Calon Lân, Come Down, O Love Divine and We Have A Gospel To Proclaim. The Cathedral Organist, Martin Brown will be playing the organ.

The Cathedral’s Director of Music, Paul Booth said, ‘It is lovely that the academic year for the Choir began last September with preparation for the previous Sunday Worship programme, and now we find ourselves preparing for Sunday Worship once again, just before the Choir begins its summer break. It is nice that the BBC recognises the high standards which we aim for with our music here at Bangor Cathedral. The Choir are really looking forward to Sunday.’

The service will celebrate St. Mary Magdalene, whose annual feast day is this Sunday, July 22. Mary Magdalene is an accepted historical figure who witnessed events in Jesus’ ministry, his crucifixion and resurrection.

The Bishop of Bangor - Right Reverend Andy John - who will be preaching in the service said, ‘It will once again be a privilege to share our Cathedral’s worship with people in many different places. It is wonderful to have this second opportunity to lead people in their worship, prayer and reflection. I pray that people will feel closer to God thanks to the gifts and dedication of Dean Kathy, our musicians and the many people in our team at Bangor Cathedral - as well as the BBC, of course!’
