Canmlwyddiant y Gofeb Ryfel ar Ynys Tysilio - ar ffilm

Yn swatio yn y Fenai, mae Ynys Sant Tysilio yn hafan o lonyddwch hyfryd ar arfordir Ynys Môn.

Wrth galon yr ynys mae Eglwys Tysilio Sant, a croes y Gofeb Ryfel.

Gan mlynedd yn ôl, ar 20 Ebrill 1921, dadorchuddiwyd a chysegrwyd y Gofeb Ryfel. Cynllun gwreiddiol Cyfeillion Ynys Tysilio oedd cynnal digwyddiad ar yr ynys i nodi'r dyddiad pwysig hwn, ond roedd cyfyngiadau yn ei gwneud yn amhosibl.

Fodd bynnag, heb ei cloffi gan y pandemig, cynhyrchwyd ffilm fendigedig, Er Cof, sy'n adrodd stori'r Gofeb, ac yn ei gosod yn ei chyd-destun hyfryd ar Ynys Tysilio. Lansiwyd Er Cof yng Ngŵyl Tysilio eleni.

Gan sôn am y lansiad y ffilm, meddai Lis Perkins, ar ran tîm Gŵyl Tysilio:

Roeddem wedi gobeithio cynnal digwyddiad ar yr ynys i nodi Canmlwyddiant y Gofeb Ryfel a gafodd ei ddadorchuddio a'i gysegru ar 20 Ebrill 1921. Rhoddodd covid stop ar y cynllun hwnnw felly aethom yn ein blaenau hefo cynllun llawer mwy uchelgeisiol sef i gynhyrchu ffilm fer - a ddaeth yn ddwy ffilm fer, un ym mhob iaith. Gyda help aelodau Cyfeillion Ynys Tysilio, a chymuned Porthaethewy, cafwyd yr adnoddau a’r cyllid i wireddu’r prosiect. Mae diolch enfawr yn ddyledus i bawb am eu cymorth parod.

Centenary of the War Memorial on Church Island - on film

Nestled in the Menai Strait, Church Island is place of beautiful stillness on the Anglesey coastline.

At the heart of the island are the Church of Saint Tysilio, and a large War Memorial cross.

One hundred years ago, on 20 April 1921, the War Memorial was unveiled and dedicated. The Friends of Church Island's original plan was to hold an event on the island to mark this important date, but restrictions made it impossible.

However, undefeated by the pandemic, a wonderful film has been produced, 100 Years of Remembrance. The film tells the memorial's story, and sets in it it beautiful context on Church Island. 100 Years of Remembrance was launched at this year's one-day Gŵyl Tysilio Festival.

Speaking about the film's launch, Lis Perkins, on behalf of the Gŵyl Tysilio Festival team, said:

We had hoped to hold an event on the island to mark the Centenary of the War Memorial which was unveiled and consecrated on 20 April 1921. Covid put a stop to the scheme - so we went on with a much more ambitious plan to produce a short film - which became two short films, one in each language. With the help of the Friends of Church Island, and the community of Menai Bridge, the resources and funding were made available to make the project a reality. A huge thank you is due to everyone for their willing assistance.
