Cadfan ar daith

Beth yw Sant?

Beth yw Pererindod?

Pwy oedd Sant Cadfan?

Dyma rai o’r cwestiynau pwysig sydd yn cael eu hateb yn y sioe newydd sbon, gan gwmni Mewn Cymeriad mewn cydweithrediad â Esgobaeth Bangor. Mae Sant Cadfan (yr actor Llion Williams) yn mynd â'r plant ar dipyn o bereindod , sy’n llawn hwyl o Dywyn ym Meirionnydd i Ynys Enlli, gan adrodd hanes ei fywyd ar y daith a galw ar y ffordd mewn rhai o eglwysi hynafol Gogledd Orllewin Cymru.

Fel rhan o Ŵyl Hanes Cymru i Blant 2022 mae’r ddrama hon yn ymweld â rhai o Eglwysi’r esgobaeth ac yn rhoi cyfle i ddisgyblion ysgolion lleol ddod i mewn i’n lleoliadau a dysgu ychydig mwy am eu heglwysi lleol,eu cynefin ynghyd â hanes Cadfan Sant. Dechreuodd y daith wythnos ddiwwethaf yn Eglwys Cadfan Sant yn Nhywyn gyda plant Ysgol Penybryn. Roedd hwn yn berfformiad arbennig iawn gan fod Carreg Cadfan, sydd ar cofnod cyntaf o Gymraeg ysgrifenedig, sydd yn cael sylw yn y ddrama wedi ei lleoli yn yr Eglwys; ac wrth gwrs oherwydd mai yn Nhywyn y glaniodd Cadfan o Lydaw a chychwyn ar ei daith i Enlli. Ymlaen wedyn i Eglwys Pedrog Sant, Llanbedrog lle roedd disgyblion ysgol Sarn Bach ac Abererch yn y gynulleidfa.

Yn ystod yr wythnosau nesf bydd y ddrama hefyd yn ymlweld â Eglwys Cyngar Sant, Borth y Gest, Eglwys y Santes Fair, Betws y Coed, Eglwys Cyngar Sant Llangefni a Chadeirlan Deiniol Sant ym Mangor. Gwnaeth Sant Cadfan ei bererinod gyntaf hynod i Enlli yn y chweched ganrif ac yn gyffrous iawn hefyd bydd y ddrama hon yn teithio ar draws y Swnt i gael ei pherfformio ar Ynys Enlli ddechrau mis Hydref.

Cadfan on tour

What is a Saint?

What is Pilgrimage?

Who was St Cadfan?

These are just some of the important questions being answered in the brand new show, by In Character company in collaboration with the Diocese of Bangor. Saint Cadfan (actor Llion Williams) takes the children on a fun-filled pilgrimage from Tywyn, Meirionnydd to Bardsey Island, telling the story of his life on the journey and calling in some of the ancient churches in North West Wales.

As part of the Welsh History Festival for Children 2022 this play visits some of the Churches in the diocese and gives pupils from local schools the opportunity to come into our locations and learn a little more about their local churches, their locality as well as the history of Saint Cadfan. The play started on its tour at Saintt Cadfan's Church in Towyn, Meirionnydd last week with the children of Ysgol Penybryn. This was a meaningful performance as the Cadfan Stone, which is the first record of written Welsh and is featured in the play is located in the Church; and of course, because it was at Towyn that Cadfan arrived from Brittany and started his epic journey to Bardsey. The next performance was at Saint Pedrog's Church, Llanbedrog where pupils at Ysgol Sarn Bach and Abererch were in the audience.

In the coming weeks the play will also visit Saint Cyngar's Church in Borth y Gest, Saint Mary's Church in Betws y Coed, Saint Cyngar’s Church in Llangefni and Saint Deiniol's Cathedral in Bangor. Saint Cadfan made his remarkable pilgrimage for Bardsey in the sixth century so it is exciting that this play will also travel across the Sound to be performed on Bardsey Island in early October.
