Archesgob Cymru yn cymeradwyo cwrs Grawys newydd am astudio’r gydberthynas Iddewig-Gristnogol yn fan
Mae Archesgob Cymru wedi cymeradwyo cwrs Grawys newydd sbon a fydd yn taflu goleuni ar wead cyfoethog y Gydberthynas Iddewig-Gristnogol. Mae cwrs y Grawys, a ddatblygwyd mewn partneriaeth â Chadeirlan Deiniol Sant ym Mangor a’r Cyngor Cristnogion ac Iddewon, yn cynnig cyfle unigryw i archwilio’r gydberthynas ddwys, brydferth a chymhleth rhwng Cristnogaeth ac Iddewiaeth.
Yn dwyn y teitl "Rydych chi’n cofio’ch cyfamod am byth" - Dirnad llwybr ar gyfer cydberthynas Cristnogol-Iddewig, bydd y cwrs ar-lein tair rhan yn cael ei gynnal ddydd Mercher 21 Chwefror, 6 Mawrth, a 20 Mawrth am 6:00pm.
Bydd pob sesiwn astudio yn dyfnhau dealltwriaeth o Iddewiaeth, yn addysgu cyfranogwyr am enghreifftiau hanesyddol o wrth-Iddewiaeth Gristnogol, ac yn paratoi’r ffordd ar gyfer dyfodol sydd wedi’i ddynodi gan gydweithredu rhyng-ffydd ffrwythlon. Mae’r amseru’n ingol, o ystyried bod yr Wythnos Sanctaidd, yn hanesyddol, wedi gweld cynnydd yn yr elyniaeth tuag at Iddewiaeth.
Mae cydweithrediad y Gadeirlan â’r Cyngor Cristnogion ac Iddewon yn dyst i ymrwymiad y ddau sefydliad i feithrin dealltwriaeth, deialog, a goddefgarwch rhwng y cymunedau Cristnogol ac Iddewig. Mae’r Cyngor wedi bod ar y blaen o ran hwyluso rhyngweithio ystyrlon, rhannu syniadau, a chyfrannu at ddatblygu cymdeithas gryfach a mwy goddefgar.
Gan gymeradwyo cwrs astudio’r Grawys, dywedodd Archesgob Cymru, "Mae angen dybryd ar ein byd drylliedig, llawn poen i gymodi ac ar gyfer iachâd ar draws ffiniau hynafol. Gall pob un ohonom chwarae ein rhan ein hun trwy ennill dealltwriaeth ddyfnach o’n hanes, ein diwinyddiaeth a’n cymdogion.
"Rydw i eisiau cymeradwyo’r bartneriaeth rhwng Cadeirlan Deiniol Sant a’r Cyngor Cristnogion ac Iddewon, a’ch annog i gymryd rhan wrth astudio, myfyrio a gweddïo aer mwyn cymodi ac iacháu y Grawys hwn."
Bydd pob sesiwn yn cael ei harwain gan ddau siaradwr nodedig o dîm cenedlaethol y Cyngor Cristnogion ac Iddewon, Avigail Simmonds-Rosten a Dr James Roberts, sy’n dod â chyfoeth o wybodaeth ac arbenigedd i gyfoethogi’r gwaith o archwilio’r cydberthynas rhwng Cristnogaeth ac Iddewiaeth.
Mae Dr James Roberts yn dweud ‘Rwy’n falch iawn o fod yn teithio drwy’r Grawys gyda Chadeirlan Deiniol Sant, i archwilio’r gydberthynas gymhleth a sanctaidd rhwng Cristnogaeth ac Iddewiaeth. Mae’r Grawys yn amser ingol i Gristnogion fyfyrio ar y gydberthynas hon. Dan gysgod canrifoedd o wrth-Iddewiaeth (sydd wedi codi ei ben mor aml yn ystod yr Wythnos Sanctaidd ac o’i chwmpas), mae’r Grawys yn amser i Gristnogion fyfyrio a chreu ffyrdd newydd o symud ymlaen gyda’i gilydd.

Mae Cadeirlan Deiniol Sant a’r Cyngor Cristnogion ac Iddewon yn estyn gwahoddiad cynnes i bob unigolyn sydd â diddordeb mewn dyfnhau eu dealltwriaeth o’r ddau draddodiad ffydd hyn a meithrin cydweithio rhyng-ffydd.

Archbishop of Wales endorses new Lent course for its in-depth study of Jewish-Christian relationship
The Archbishop of Wales has endorsed a brand new Lent course which will shed light on the rich tapestry of Jewish-Christian Relations. The Lent course, developed in partnership with Saint Deiniol’s Cathedral in Bangor and the Council of Christians and Jews, offers a unique opportunity to explore the profound, beautiful, and complex relationship between Christianity and Judaism.
Entitled “You remember your covenant forever” - Discerning a path for Christian-Jewish relations, the three-part online course will run on Wednesday 21 February, 6 March, and 20 March at 6:00pm.
Each study session will deepen the understanding of Judaism, educate participants about historical instances of Christian anti-Judaism, and pave the way for a future marked by fruitful interfaith collaboration. The timing is poignant, considering that Holy Week has historically witnessed increased hostility towards Judaism.
The Cathedral’s collaboration with the Council of Christians and Jews is a testament to the commitment of both organizations to fostering understanding, dialogue, and tolerance between the Christian and Jewish communities. The Council has been at the forefront of facilitating meaningful interactions, sharing ideas, and contributing to the building of a stronger and more tolerant society.
Endorsing the Lent study, the Archbishop of Wales said, “Our aching, broken world is in desperate need of reconciliation and healing across ancient boundaries. We can all play our own part by gaining a deeper understanding of our history, our theology and our neighbours.
“I want to commend the partnership between Saint Deiniol’s Cathedral and the Council of Christians and Jews, and to encourage you to participate in study, reflection and prayer for reconciliation and healing this Lent.”
Each session will be led by two distinguished speakers from the Council of Christians and Jews's national team, Avigail Simmonds-Rosten and Dr James Roberts, who bring a wealth of knowledge and expertise to enrich the exploration of the relationship between Christianity and Judaism.
Dr James Roberts says, ‘I am delighted to be journeying through Lent with Saint Deiniol’s Cathedral, exploring the complex, sacred relationship between Christianity and Judaism. Lent is a poignant time for Christians to reflect on this relationship. In the shadow of centuries of anti-Judaism (which has so often reared its head in and around Holy Week), Lent is a time for Christians to reflect and to forge new ways of moving forward together.
