Simon grew up in Warwick in the English Midlands and has been closely involved in church life since becoming a chorister at the age of 11. He studied for his BA at Worcester College, Oxford, followed by an MA at the University of Sheffield. Following university he spent two years teaching abroad in Astana (now Nursultan), the capital of Kazakhstan.

On returning to the UK, he trained as a Project Manager and Business Analyst, working mostly in IT and Infrastructure, but with some crossover into Healthcare and Estate Agency sectors. He moved to Bangor in September 2021 and has been Conservation and Development Project Manager for the Diocese since January 2022, overseeing the work of the Llefa’r Cerrig project and in particular the works under the UK Government ‘Levelling Up’ scheme in Holyhead. At the same time he has managed major restoration and improvement works at St Deiniol’s Cathedral in collaboration with the Sub-Dean and Cathedral Chapter.

Outside of his ‘official’ duties, he sings with St Deiniol’s Cathedral Choir and enjoys travelling both locally and internationally, with a particular interest in visiting churches and other buildings of architectural signficance.
