Arweinydd Ardal Weinidogaeth newydd ym Mro Tysilio

Y Parchg | The Revd Richard Wood

Mae’n bleser gan Esgob Bangor gyhoeddi penodiad y Parchg Richard Wood yn Ficer ac Arweinydd Ardal Weinidogaeth ar gyfer Ardal Weinidogaeth Bro Tysilio, sy’n gwasanaethu cymunedau ardaloedd Porthaethwy, Pentraeth a Benllech ar Ynys Môn.

Ar hyn o bryd Richard yw Arweinydd Ardal y Weinidogaeth ym Mro Madryn ym Mhenrhyn Llŷn. Magwyd Richard yng Nghaerloyw. Daeth yn Gristion trwy ddylanwad gweinidogaeth Eglwys Bedyddwyr lleol y bu’n ei mynychu gyda’i fam. Symudodd i Gymru i astudio Daearyddiaeth ym Mhrifysgol Aberystwyth, yno croesawyd ef i Eglwys Sant Mihangel lle datblygodd ei ffydd yn bellach. Fel rhan o’i ymchwil personol i’r ymdeimlad posib o ymuno â’r weinidogaeth ordeiniedig, cymerodd flwyddyn allan o’i astudiaethau i fod yn rhan o gwrs disgyblaeth a gynhaliwyd gan Eglwys Soul Survivor yn Watford.

Tra yn Aberystwyth cyfarfu Richard â’i wraig Naomi. Cafodd ei ordeinio yn 2008, cyn gwasanaethu fel Curad yn Aberaeron ac yna’n Ficer Tîm yn Llanelli. Bu iddo symud i Esgobaeth Bangor, a Bro Madryn yn 2013. Mae pob un o’r lleoliadau hyn wedi ei alluogi i adeiladu a chynyddu ei allu fel dysgwr a siaradwr Cymraeg. Mae Richard wedi bod yn rhan o sawl agwedd ar fywyd ehangach yr Eglwys yng Nghymru ac mae ganddo ddiddordeb gwirioneddol ar weld y pwyslais mewn Efengylu yn cael ei gynyddu.

Mae Richard a Naomi wedi mabwysiadu dau blentyn, Ethan a Sophia, sydd wedi ychwanegu llawer o lawenydd-ynghyd â blinder i’w bywydau!! Mae Richard yn mwynhau pêl-droed a chriced, yn canu’r gitâr ac yn hoff o ‘ffidlan’ gyda theclynnau a thechnoleg. Yn ddiweddar mae hefyd wedi dechrau rhedeg fel rhan o her a osodwyd iddo gan Naomi.

Wrth edrych ymlaen at ei rôl newydd, dywedodd Richard:

Mae wedi bod yn fraint ac yn fendith gwasanaethu a gweinidogaethu gyda phobl Bro Madryn dros y saith mlynedd a hanner diwethaf. Rydym ni wedi gweld Duw yn gwneud pethau rhyfeddol ynom ni a thrwom ni. Felly mae yna dristwch wrth i ni gydnabod mai dyma’r amser iawn i ni fel teulu symud ymlaen. Rwy’n llawn gobaith y bydd Bro Madryn, mewn ffydd a chariad, yn parhau i rannu Newyddion Da Iesu yn ei chymunedau.

Mae cael bod yn rhan o’r eglwys ym Mro Tysilio yn gyffrous iawn. Mae’r cariad a’r gofal a gynigiwyd trwy’r Canon Angela ac eraill yn ystod y blynyddoedd diwethaf yn ein rhoi mewn sefyllfa dda, a gyda nifer gyfleoedd. Bydd yna heriau, ond gallwn fod yn gwbl hyderus yn naioni a ffyddlondeb Duw.

Dywedodd Archddiacon Ynys Môn, Andy Herrick:

Rwyf yn edrych ymlaen i gael Richard, ynghyd â Naomi, Ethan a Sophia, ar Ynys Môn. Mae Richard yn olynydd naturiol i’r Canon Angela. Mae Richard yn dod â chalon fugeiliol gref, y gallu i arwain addoliad yn greadigol, a rhagolwg sy’n canolbwyntio ar genhadaeth a fydd yn dod â thwf a bywiogrwydd pellach i Fro Tysilio.

Hefyd wrth groesau’r apwyntiad, dywedodd Esgob Bangor, Andy John:

Rwy’n falch iawn o gyhoeddi penodiad y Parchedig Richard Wood i’r rôl hon. Bydd colled ar ôl Richard ym Mro Madryn, ond edrychaf ymlaen at ei groesawu ef a’i deulu i Fro Tysilio. Daw Richard â chyfoeth o brofiad, ac mae wedi bod yn gaffaeliad i’r esgobaeth ers iddo gyrraedd yn 2013.

Disgwylir y bydd Richard yn dechrau ei weinidogaeth newydd ym mis Mehefin. Cyhoeddir trefniadau ar gyfer ei drwyddedu yn agosach at yr amser. Gweddïwch dros Richard, ei deulu a phobl Bro Tysilio a Bro Madryn.

A new Ministry Area Leader for Bro Tysilio

Y Parch | The Revd Richard Wood

The Bishop of Bangor is pleased to announce the appointment of the Revd Richard Wood as Vicar & Ministry Area Leader of the Bro Tyslio Ministry Area, which serves the communities around Menai Bridge, Pentraeth and Benllech on the Isle of Anglesey.

Richard is currently Ministry Area Leader of Bro Madryn on the Llyn Peninsular. Richard grew up in Gloucester, becoming a Christian through the ministry of a local Baptist Church which he attended with his mother. He moved to Wales to study Geography at University in Aberystwyth, and found a place of welcome and nurture there in St Michael’s Church. As part of his investigating a potential sense of calling to ordained ministry, he took a year out of his studies to be part of a discipleship course run by Soul Survivor Church in Watford.

While in Aberystwyth he met his wife Naomi. Having been ordained in 2008, Richard served as Curate in Aberaeron and then Team Vicar in Llanelli before moving to Bangor Diocese and Bro Madryn in 2013. In each place, he has been able to increase his competence as a Welsh learner. He has been involved in several aspects of the wider life the Church in Wales, with a particular passion for seeing an increased emphasis on evangelism.

Richard and Naomi have adopted their two children, Ethan and Sophia, bringing equal amounts of joy and exhaustion! Richard enjoys football and cricket, playing his guitar and messing around with gadgets and technology, but has also recently taken up running as part of a challenge set for him by Naomi.

Looking forward to his new role, Richard said:

It has been a privilege and a blessing to serve and minister with the people of Bro Madryn over the last seven and a half years. We have seen God do some wonderful things in and through us and so there is a sadness as we recognise that it is the right time for our family to move on. I am full of hope that, in faith and love, Bro Madryn will continue to share the Good News of Jesus in its communities.

The prospect of being part of the church in Bro Tysilio is deeply exciting. The love and care which has been offered through Canon Angela and others in recent years puts us in a good position to embrace all of the opportunities which we will have. There will be challenges as well, but we can be utterly confident in God’s goodness and faithfulness.

The Archdeacon of Anglesey, Andy Herrick, said:

I am thrilled that Richard, along with Naomi, Ethan and Sophia, are coming to Anglesey. Richard is a natural successor to Canon Angela. Richard bringing a strong pastoral heart, an ability to lead worship creatively, and a mission-focussed outlook which will bring further growth and vitality to Bro Tysilio.

Welcoming the appointment, the Bishop of Bangor, Andy John, said:

I’m delighted to announce the appointment of the Reverend Richard Wood to this role. Richard will be missed in Bro Madryn, but I look forward to welcoming him and his family to Bro Tysilio. Richard brings a wealth of experience, and it has been an asset to the diocese since he arrived in 2013.

It is expected that Richard will start his new ministry in June. The arrangements for his licencing will be announced closer to the time. Please pray for Richard, his family and the people of Bro Tysilio and Bro Madryn.
