Mae cerrig yr eglwysi hyn wedi bod yn dystion i dros fil o flynyddoedd o hanes y tir hwn. Trwy’r prosiect hwn rydym eisiau dweud stori’r hyn y maent wedi ei weld: stori ffydd ein hynafiaid a hanes cysegredig y rhan hwn o’r byd.
Trwy adnewyddu, cyflwyno a dehongli’r gofodau hyn a’r arteffactau sydd ynddynt byddwn yn tynnu llinyn y stori hon ar draws y canrifoedd mewn ffordd fydd yn denu twristiaid a phererinion.
Cynnal yr harddwch
Y mae anrhydedd a mawredd o'i flaen, nerth a gogoniant yn ei gysegr. Ymgrymwch i Dduw yn ysblander ei sancteiddrwydd.
Salm 96:6,9
Dros y canrifoedd, mae cenedlaethau o addolwyr a chymwynaswyr wedi rhoi i’r eglwysi hyn eitemau a gweithiau o werth hanesyddol ac esthetig. Mae harddwch y darnau hyn nid yn unig yn cadarnhau ymroddiad ein cyndeidiau i’w ffydd, ond maent hefyd yn diffinio cymeriad arbennig y lleoedd hyn.
Trwy’r prosiect hwn byddwn yn adnewyddu’r eitemau hyn lle y bo’n addas ac angenrheidiol a sicrhau eu bod yn cael eu harddangos mewn ffordd sensitif, gyda dehongliadau, fel y gall ymwelwyr a phob aelod o’r gymuned eu mwynhau am eu gwerth esthetig ac hanesyddol.
Croesawu’n gynhwysol
“Wele, y mae preswylfa Duw gyda'r ddynoliaeth; bydd ef yn preswylio gyda hwy, bedding hwy yn bobloedd iddo ef, a bydd Duw ei hun gyda hwy”
Datguddiad 21:3
Mae Tŷ Duw yn lle o groeso a lletygarwch i bawb, waeth beth eu hil, iaith, anabledd, neu unrhyw beth arall. Fodd bynnag, mae realiti ymarferol yr adeiladau hynafol hyn yn eu gwneud yn sylfaenol anaddas yn eu cyflwr presennol ar gyfer ymwelwyr ac addolwyr anabl.
Trwy’r prosiect hwn byddwn yn creu mynediad addas mewn ffordd sensitif ar gyfer y rhai sydd mewn cadeiriau olwyn neu rai sydd gyda symudedd cyfyngedig a sicrhau bod toiledau a chyfleusterau eraill yno ac yn addas i bawb. Hefyd, byddwn yn defnyddio technoleg hygyrchedd modern i sicrhau y gall pob ymwelydd fwynhau’r dadansoddiadau gweledol a chlywedol.
Cynhyrchu cynaliadwyedd
‘Ardderchog, fy ngwas da a ffyddlon,’ meddai ei feistr wrtho, ‘buost yn ffyddlon wrth ofalu am ychydig, fe osodaf lawer yn dy ofal; tyrd i ymuno yn llawenydd dy feistr.’

Yn hanesyddol mae model ariannol yr eglwys wedi ei seilio ar gyfuniad o roddion rheolaidd ac ambell gyfraniad mwy gan gymwynaswyr. Fodd bynnag, dros yr hanner can mlynedd ddiwethaf rydym wedi gweld newid yn y patrymau addoli a gostyngiad yn y rhoddion rheolaidd hyn. O ganlyniad, mae’r eglwys angen addasu i strategaeth ariannol newydd a dod o hyd i ffynonellau incwm gwahanol i’w chynnal ei hun.
Trwy’r prosiect hwn, anelwn at agor y ffrydiau cyllid amgen hyn trwy fentrau cymunedol fydd o fudd i’r eglwys ac i’r gymuned leol, yn ogystal ag edrych am ffyrdd o gynyddu nifer yr ymwelwyr trwy dwristiaeth a phererindod i ategu at yr incwm a ddaw o’r cynulleidfaoedd lleol.

Genesis 2:15
Rhoddodd Duw stiwardiaeth ei greadigaeth i ni, a byddai caniatáu parhad y difrod y mae gormodedd o allyriadau Carbon Deuocsid yn ei wneud i’r amgylchedd yn groes i’r dyletswydd hwn. Mae’r Eglwys yng Nghymru ac Esgobaeth Bangor wedi ymrwymo i ddod yn garbon niwtral yn ystod y ddegawd bresennol.
Trwy’r prosiect hwn, byddwn yn cyflwyno mesurau lleihau carbon a lleddfu yn y pum eglwys, gan gynnwys systemau pympiau gwres o’r ddaear neu o’r aer a phaneli solar ar doeau sy’n wynebu’r de. Byddwn hefyd yn ceisio gwneud ein mynwentydd, sydd yn aml yn ymdebygu i ‘anialdiroedd gwyrdd’, yn llefydd lle y gall pobl a natur gydfyw yn symbiotaidd.
Gwasanaethu’r gymuned
‘Dyma fy ngorchymyn i: carwch eich gilydd fel y cerais i chwi.’
Ioan 15:12
Adeiladwyd yr adeiladau gwych hyn dros sawl cenhedlaeth gan y gymuned, ar gyfer y gymuned, a sefydlwyd hwy naill ai yng nghanol cymunedau oedd yn bodoli yn barod er mwyn eu gwasanaethu neu fe ddaethant yn ganolbwynt i’r cymunedau a dyfodd o’u hamgylch. Mae anghenion a disgwyliadau’r gymuned wedi newid, a swyddogaeth yr eglwys wedi lleihau gyda seciwlareiddio cynyddol y gymuned.
Trwy’r prosiect hwn, byddwn yn cysylltu â’r cymunedau y mae’r eglwysi hyn yn sefyll ynddynt, gan siarad â’r rhai sy’n mynychu gwasanaethau yn rheolaidd yn ogystal â’r rhai sydd ddim yn gwneud hynny, i gynyddu dealltwriaeth o’r adeiladau hyn fel lleoliadau cyhoeddus a dinesig ac fel canolbwyntiau y gymuned. Byddwn hefyd yn arwain gweithgaredd economaidd lleol trwy gael mwy o dwristiaeth a mentrau cymdeithasol wedi eu canoli ar yr eglwys yn y sector croeso.
Proclaiming our Story
‘I tell you, if these were silent, the stones would shout out.’
Luke 19:40
The stones of these churches have stood witness to over a thousand years of this land’s history. Through this project we want to tell the story of what they have witnessed: the story of the faith of our ancestors and the sacred history of this part of the world.
Through the restoration, presentation and interpretation of these spaces and the artefacts they contain we will draw the thread of this story across the centuries in a way that engages both tourists and pilgrims.
Preserving the beauty
Honour and majesty are before him; strength and beauty are in his sanctuary. O worship God in the beauty of holiness.

Over the centuries, successive generations of worshippers and benefactors have bestowed upon these churches items and works of both great historical and aesthetic value. The beauty of these items serves not only to confirm the dedication of our forebears to their faith, but also to define the special character of these places.
Through this project we will restore these items where appropriate and necessary and ensure they are displayed sensitively, with interpretation, so that visitors and all members of the community can enjoy them for their aesthetic and historical value.
Welcoming inclusively
‘See, the home of God is among mortals. He will dwell with them; they will be his peoples, and God himself will be with them’
Revelation 21:3
The House of God is a place of welcome and hospitality for all people, regardless of race, language, disability, or anything else. However, the practical reality of these ancient buildings makes them inherently unsuitable in their current state for disabled visitors and worshippers.
Through this project we will sensitively create access solutions for those in wheelchairs with limited mobility and ensure that toilet and other facilities are both extant and suitable for all. Furthermore, we will use modern accessibility technology to make sure all visual and aural interpretation is accessible to all.
Generating sustainability
“Well done, good and trustworthy servant; you have been trustworthy in a few things, I will put you in charge of many things; enter into the joy of your master.”

Historically the financial model of the church has been based upon a combination of regular giving and occasional larger donations from benefactors. However, over the last fifty years we have seen a change in worship patterns and a decline in this regular giving. As a result, the church needs to adapt to a new financial strategy and seek alternative sources of income to support itself.
Through this project, we will aim to open up these alternative revenue streams through social enterprises that benefit both the church and the local community, as well as looking to increase footfall through tourism and pilgrimage to supplement the income from local congregations.
Going Green

We have been charged by God with the stewardship of his creation, and allowing the damage excess Carbon Dioxide emissions are doing to the environment to continue is contrary to this charge. The Church in Wales and the Diocese of Bangor are both committed to achieving carbon neutrality during the current decade.
Through this project, we will introduce carbon reduction and offset measures at all five churches, including air- or ground-sourced heating and solar panels on south-facing roofs. We will also seek to make our churchyards, which sometimes can resemble ‘green deserts’, into places were the communities and nature can coexist symbiotically.
Serving the community
‘This is my commandment, that you love one another as I have loved you.’

These wonderful buildings were built over many generations by the community, for the community, and were either established at the centre of existing communities for the purpose of serving them or became the centre of communities that grew up around them. The needs and expectations of society have changed, and the role of the church has been diminished with the increasing secularisation of society.
Through this project, we will consult with the communities in which these churches stand, speaking to both those who attend services regularly and those who do not, to increase understanding of these buildings as public, civic spaces and hubs of the community. We will also drive increased local economic activity through greater tourist footfall and church-centred social enterprises in the hospitality sector.
