Ymlonyddu gyda'n gilydd

1. Goleuwch gannwyll.

2. Darllenwch:

A dywedodd Duw, "Bydded goleuni." A bu goleuni. Gwelodd Duw fod y goleuni yn dda; a gwahanodd Duw y goleuni oddi wrth y tywyllwch. A bu hwyr a bu bore, y dydd cyntaf.

Genesis 1:3-5

Dyma’r dydd y gweithredodd yr Arglwydd; gorfoleddwn a llawenhawn ynddo.

Salm 118:24

Trafod gyda'n gilydd

Gwneud ychydig o ymarferion ymddiried gyda’n gilydd.

  1. Arwain rhywun â mwgwd dros eu llygaid trwy gwrs ymosod.
  2. Disgyn yn ôl i freichiau rhywun.

Pa mor hawdd yw hi i ymddiried yn rhywun?

Yn y stori heddiw roedd rhaid i rai gweision ymddiried yn Iesu.

Mae Iesu'n Troi'r Dŵr yn Win

Dau ddiwrnod wedyn roedd priodas yn Cana, pentref yn Galilea. Roedd mam Iesu yno ac roedd Iesu a'i ddisgyblion wedi derbyn y gwahoddiad i'r briodas hefyd. Pan oedd dim gwin ar ôl, dyma fam Iesu'n dweud wrtho, “Does ganddyn nhw ddim mwy o win.”

Atebodd Iesu, “Mam annwyl, gad lonydd i mi. Beth ydy hynny i ni? Dydy fy amser i ddim wedi dod eto.”

Ond dwedodd ei fam wrth y gweision, “Gwnewch beth bynnag fydd yn ei ddweud wrthoch chi.”

Roedd chwech ystên garreg wrth ymyl (y math sy'n cael eu defnyddio gan yr Iddewon i ddal dŵr ar gyfer y ddefod o ymolchi seremonïol). Roedd pob un ohonyn nhw'n dal rhwng wyth deg a chant dau ddeg litr.

Dwedodd Iesu wrth y gweision, “Llanwch yr ystenau yma â dŵr.” Felly dyma nhw'n eu llenwi i'r top.

Yna dwedodd wrthyn nhw, “Cymerwch beth ohono a mynd ag e i lywydd y wledd.”

Dyma nhw'n gwneud hynny, a dyma llywydd y wledd yn blasu'r dŵr oedd wedi'i droi'n win. (Doedd ganddo fe ddim syniad o ble roedd wedi dod, ond roedd y gweision oedd wedi codi'r dŵr yn gwybod.) Yna galwodd y priodfab ato  a dweud wrtho, “Mae pobl fel arfer yn dod â'r gwin gorau allan gyntaf a'r gwin rhad yn nes ymlaen, ar ôl i'r gwesteion gael gormod i'w yfed. Pam wyt ti wedi cadw'r gorau i'r diwedd?”

Y wyrth Ref hon yn Cana Galilea oedd y gyntaf wnaeth Iesu, fel arwydd o pwy oedd e. Roedd yn dangos ei ysblander, a dyma'i ddisgyblion yn credu ynddo.

Ar ôl y briodas aeth Iesu i lawr i Capernaum gyda'i fam a'i frodyr a'i ddisgyblion, ac aros yno am ychydig ddyddiau.

Ioan 2:1-12

Myfyrio gyda'n gilydd

Mae mam Iesu, Mair, yn dweud wrth y gweision ‘Gwnewch beth bynnag mae’n ei ofyn i chi.”

Beth ofynnodd Iesu iddyn nhw ei wneud?

Doedd gofyn i rywun lenwi ychydig o jariau dŵr ddim yn waith ‘arbennig’ nac hyd yn oed yn rhywbeth rhyfedd i’w ofyn - hyd yn oed os oedd y jariau’n enfawr! Roedd yn rhaid i’r gweision ymddiried yn Iesu. Mae’n hawdd i ni ymddiried yn Iesu oherwydd ein bod ni’n gwybod pwy ydyw a beth mae’n gallu ei wneud. Doedd y gweision ddim.

Ond beth ddigwyddodd i’r dŵr?

Trwy droi’r dŵr yn win, roedd Iesu’n dangos ei fod yn Dduw. Roedd yn dangos ychydig o deyrnas Duw, o nerth Duw.

Pa fath o ‘waith’ mae Duw eisiau i ni eu gwneud? Mae eisiau i ni fod yn garedig, yn amyneddgar, helpu pobl eraill, bod yn hael a llawer, llawer mwy. Dyw’r rhain ddim yn bethau arbennig nac hyd yn oed yn bethau rhyfedd i’w gwneud. Ond, mae Duw yn gallu gwneud pethau rhyfeddol gyda’r pethau rydyn ni’n eu gwneud a phob un yn arwydd sy’n dangos ychydig bach o deyrnas Duw.

Pa fath o bethau allwch chi eu gwneud yr wythnos hon a fyddai’n arwydd o deyrnas Duw?

Gweddio gyda'n gilydd

Llanwch eich jwg mwyaf gyda dŵr (os dymunwch, gallwch roi ychydig o sudd cyrens du neu liw bwyd yng ngwaelod y jwg cyn ei lenwi)

Gwahoddwch bawb i arllwys ychydig o ddŵr i mewn i gwpan / gwydr. Wrth iddyn nhw’n arllwys, diolchwch i Dduw am y pethau anhygoel a wnaeth Iesu i ddangos Teyrnas Duw i bobl a gofynnwch i Dduw i wneud pethau rhyfeddol gyda'r pethau rydych chi'n eu gwneud i ddangos Teyrnas Duw.

Gorffen gyda'n gilydd

Bydded i Dduw, ffynhonnell gobaith, eich llenwi â phob llawenydd a thangnefedd wrth ichwi arfer eich ffydd, nes eich bod, trwy nerth yr Ysbryd Glân, yn gorlifo â gobaith.

Diffoddwch y gannwyll.

Third Sunday of Epiphany

John 2:1-12

Stilling together

1. Light a candle.

2. Read:

God said, "Let there be light," and there was light, and God saw the light was good, and he separated light from darkness. So evening came, and morning came; it was the first day.

Genesis 1: 3-5

This is the day which the Lord has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it.

Psalm 118: 24

Discussing together

Do some trust exercises together.

  1. Lead someone through an assault course while they wear a blindfold.
  2. Fall backwards into someone’s arms.

How easy is it to trust someone?

In today’s story some servants had to trust Jesus.

Reading together

Jesus Changes Water Into Wine

On the third day a wedding took place at Cana in Galilee. Jesus’ mother was there, and Jesus and his disciples had also been invited to the wedding. When the wine was gone, Jesus’ mother said to him, “They have no more wine.”

“Woman, why do you involve me?” Jesus replied. “My hour has not yet come.”

His mother said to the servants, “Do whatever he tells you.”

Nearby stood six stone water jars, the kind used by the Jews for ceremonial washing, each holding from twenty to thirty gallons.

Jesus said to the servants, “Fill the jars with water”; so they filled them to the brim.

Then he told them, “Now draw some out and take it to the master of the banquet.”

They did so, and the master of the banquet tasted the water that had been turned into wine. He did not realize where it had come from, though the servants who had drawn the water knew. Then he called the bridegroom aside and said, “Everyone brings out the choice wine first and then the cheaper wine after the guests have had too much to drink; but you have saved the best till now.”

What Jesus did here in Cana of Galilee was the first of the signs through which he revealed his glory; and his disciples believed in him.

After this he went down to Capernaum with his mother and brothers and his disciples. There they stayed for a few days.

John 2:1-12

Reflecting together

What did he ask them to do?

Filling some jars with water isn’t a ‘special’ job or even a strange job to be asked to do – even if the jars were enormous! The servants had to trust Jesus. It’s easy for us to trust Jesus because we know who he is and what he can do. The servants didn’t.

But what happened to the water?

Jesus changing the water into wine showed that he is God. It showed a little bit of God’s kingdom, of God’s power.

What kind of ‘jobs’ does God want us to do? He wants us to be kind, to be patient, to help other people, to be generous and many more things. These aren’t special jobs or even strange jobs to do. But God can do amazing things with the jobs that we do and each one is a sign that shows a little bit of God’s kingdom.

What sort of things could you do this week that would be sign of God’s kingdom?

Praying together

Fill up your largest jug with water (if you want to you could put some blackcurrant juice or food colouring in the bottom of the jug before you fill it)

Invite everyone to pour some water into a cup/glass. As they pour thank God for the amazing things that Jesus did to show people God’s Kingdom and ask God to do amazing things with the things you do to show God’s kingdom.

Finishing together

The God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, that by the power of the Holy Spirit you may overflow with hope.

Blow out the candle.
